We’re pleased to announce that we offer StemWave therapy, a nonsurgical, noninvasive treatment for pain. StemWave therapy helps reduce pain from a variety of sources, including joint pain, deep tissue injuries and musculoskeletal damage. It can relieve chronic pain that’s been plaguing you for years. StemWave triggers a natural healing process that leaves you pain-free over the long term.
We understand how chronic pain can devastate your entire life. StemWave therapy can transform and restore your life. After our therapy, you’ll be able to return to the activities you used to love doing. Chronic pain that stems from many different conditions can be a thing of the past with StemWave acoustic therapy.
What is StemWave Therapy Treatment?
StemWave is part of a broader category of treatments known as extracorporeal shock wave therapy. This category of treatment has been around for a while, but it hasn’t always been as painless and effective.
StemWave is an exciting, advanced technology that uses sound waves to treat pain and inflammation. A noninvasive treatment, StemWave is nevertheless able to penetrate deep into tissues that other techniques and tools cannot reach. It both decreases pain and heals damage, and its results last.
We apply StemWave therapy with a device that generates these sound waves. The process is quick and requires just a few sessions to bring relief to patients.

Why We Offer StemWave Therapy
We offer this therapy at our practice because there are certain types of pain and injury that do not respond to conventional chiropractic treatment. StemWave therapy offers our patients an option to heal and become pain-free without undergoing surgery, taking medication or getting injections. It also gives them the opportunity to avoid the side effects that those treatments may cause, which can be more likely and more severe than StemWave therapy’s minimal side effects.
There are a few other reasons that it’s important to us to offer this alternative to our patients. Another big advantage of StemWave therapy over surgery is that there is no downtime for patients. When you undergo StemWave therapy with us, you can return to work or other activities as soon as the treatment session itself ends. It’s also less costly than many other options. In addition, a treatment only takes around 10 or 15 minutes.

How StemWave Therapy Works in Tandem With Chiropractic Care
We find that StemWave improves outcomes in our patients, and that’s our priority. It’s an excellent tool that we can use alongside chiropractic care. When we’re able to use StemWave to heal injuries, our chiropractic manipulations are in turn more effective.
It works in tandem with chiropractic treatment in part because it allows us to take a more holistic approach to your health. This means that we look at the whole patient, not just a few symptoms. We also understand that chronic pain can affect every aspect of your life. The relief from it that StemWaves provides can do that as well.
We will continue to work on spinal alignment along with other issues that we can resolve with conventional chiropractic care. Our aim is to use all the strategies that are available to us to improve your quality of life.
How Does StemWave Therapy Work?
StemWave therapy works by stimulating your cells to begin healing naturally. It does this with sound waves, also known as acoustic waves.
The handheld device that we use for StemWave treatment generates these acoustic waves. When we hold it to the place on your body where you experience pain, the waves travel into your tissues. They are able to penetrate more precisely and at a deeper level than some other, similar types of therapy.
The sound waves then cause microscopic damage, which sounds like the opposite of what you want them to do! However, this damage gets your cells working again to repair your injury.
This therapy also reduces inflammation. If you have scar tissue, StemWave can break that down as well.
This is a natural healing process. It also provides more blood flow to the area, and this boost in circulation aids in recovery. StemWave therapy helps your body do what it does best, which is healing itself. Therefore, rather than masking pain or simply addressing symptoms instead of the underlying cause, it provides a lasting solution.

Other Health Benefits of StemWave Therapy
StemWave can offer a number of other benefits. It improves circulation and breaks down scar tissue. It can speed recovery following surgery. In areas outside of the chiropractic world, it has benefits in wound care and men’s urology.
The pain relief that StemWave provides also creates cascading health benefits. When you’re free of pain, your mobility and flexibility increase. You’ll be able to engage in more physical activity, and this will boost both your physical and mental health.
Some treatments for pain can take a toll on your health in other ways. For example, medications may reduce pain but cause side effects that still diminish your quality of life. There is always a risk of complications with surgery, plus there may be a substantial recovery period afterwards. Treatment using StemWave is short in duration and produces fast results. It’s also pain-free for most people and results in only minor side effects.
What Happens During the Procedure?
We’ll start by letting you get into a comfortable position. Depending on your preference and where the treatment site is, you can either sit or lie down. For most patients, StemWave treatment is painless. Some will experience mild pain or discomfort during the process itself, but it’s not necessary to apply anesthetic or numbing cream before we begin.
We will apply a special gel to the area that we’re going to target. Next, we will place the StemWave device on that area.
The amount of time this part lasts will vary, but it’s usually for 10 minutes or less. There will be longer treatments for some people. The device can be loud, which can make patients worry that the process is going to be painful. However, most people just feel vibrations or a sensation of tapping. You might even feel a pleasant warmth.
What to Expect After Treatment
Once the actual procedure is over, there is no recovery time. You can immediately go on to your next activity, whether that’s work or something focused on leisure. You might even do so feeling considerably better than you did when you arrived at our clinic!
Some people begin to experience relief after a single session. This isn’t the case for everyone, but after three or four sessions, you will probably start feeling much better if you respond as most people do.
It’s likely that your treatment will involve multiple sessions and unfold over several weeks. We’ll evaluate your progress and adjust our treatments based on what we find and what you experience.
One thing you can expect about StemWave treatment is that it offers long-term results. This is because it doesn’t work by simply hiding the pain or other reducing other symptoms. It stimulates real healing so that you can start to recover from the injury or pain that you’ve been suffering and regain your mobility and flexibility.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is StemWave therapy painful?
If you’ve had experiences in the past with acoustic wave therapy or you know someone who has, you may have the impression that it is painful. These days, this is a myth, but it’s a persistent one.
It’s important to understand that StemWave therapy has taken the technology a long way. In those older treatments, patients were subjected to pulses that were high in both intensity and pressure, and that could be painful. This is no longer the case.
StemWave should relieve pain rather than cause it, and most patients only feel a vibration, pulsing or tapping sensation.
There will be discomfort for some patients during the treatment itself, but it should be mild and short in duration. Any pain that patients do experience is manageable and short-lived. If you’ve ever had a deep tissue massage, the discomfort is comparable.
There are two other important points about StemWave therapy and pain. One is that the device is very precise and sensitive, and intensity can be adjusted. The other is that over time, you will adapt to the treatment. Applications that are higher in intensity a few weeks after you begin won’t cause you the discomfort that they would have in the first or second treatment.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions you need will vary based on your condition and how you respond to treatment, but most people will need between three and eight sessions. However, some people need as many as 12. We will evaluate and adjust as necessary as we go along.
How soon can I expect results?
This is going to be a little bit different for everyone. It depends partly on the condition we’re treating and partly on how you respond to it. Some people report relief after the first session. Most patients start to see significant improvements after three or four sessions. We will most likely continue your treatment for a few sessions after that.
Are there any side effects?
Most people do not suffer any side effects. There are far fewer side effects associated with StemWave therapy than with most other treatments for pain. You may have some mild swelling, soreness or redness at the place where we applied the therapy. Other mild side effects including tingling, bruising or skin irritation. These side effects are usually short in duration.
How does StemWave differ from SoftWave or other shock wave therapies?
StemWave, SoftWave and all other shock wave therapies use sound waves, but StemWave has a more precise focus while SoftWave targets a larger area. StemWave also offers particularly deep penetration, which can mean it is more effective for injuries that are localized, such as knee pain or plantar fasciitis, and for deep tissue injuries. StemWave is also better for chronic pain.
Who shouldn’t get StemWave therapy?
With a few exceptions, people under 18 should not get StemWave therapy. In addition, you should not get StemWave therapy if you’ve had a steroid injection the past six weeks or you take blood thinner medication.
You also should not have StemWave therapy if any of the conditions listed below are true for you:
- Pregnant or trying to get pregnant
- Infection, tumor or abrasion at treatment site
- Blood clotting disorder
- Pacemaker implanted
Some situations are complicated. For example, in general, people with cancer should not get StemWave treatment, particularly at the site of the cancer, but doctors and researchers are working to explore how sound wave therapy can be integrated with other cancer treatment. While this kind of usage is beyond the scope of our current chiropractic treatment, you can speak to your oncologist or other specialist about whether there is research into a type of acoustic wave therapy for your condition.
Can I combine StemWave with chiropractic adjustments?
Yes, and this combination can sometimes make the chiropractic adjustments you receive even more effective. StemWave can address the underlying cause of your pain and inflammation while chiropractic adjustments can help with symptom relief. We’ll work with you to create an individualized plan based on your condition that will maximize your healing.
